SKIN79 Snail Nutrition Korean BB Cream Review

Nope that wasn’t a typo. You read correctly: SNAIL. So let’s first address this elephant in the room.

‘Snail secretion filtrate’ or more commonly ‘snail slime’ has been a prized ingredient in beauty products for years. It’s supposed to have anti-aging and skin-rejuvenating properties, and because of these traits it has become so popular among the Asian market that Tokyo spas are giving their customers a chance to have snails crawl and release sliminess all across their face. If you can get past the ‘eww factor’ and the fact that this ‘ingredient’ comes from an insect, I suppose it’s worth a try for the perfect, smooth skin. Right? 😉

Well… the reason I bought the SKIN 79 Snail Nutrition BB cream was due to 99% curiosity and 1% hope that I would notice a difference in my skin. In other words, I didn’t really have high hopes for the “snail” ingredient. I’ve never tried any product with snail slime in it so this would be the first. And I’m not too sure what to think of it. Is this just a marketing ploy? Will it smell bad? Will it feel very slimy?

So first of all, the product comes with a big SPF 45 PA+++ sun protection, and I’m not sure why such high sun protection qualities are in this product. Perhaps it’s intended for use during the summer or in hot weather? Or maybe it’s because this product wants to protect the skin from the sun as an added anti-aging precaution. Well, if you want something with high sun protection you’ll know this has it. Also, it contains ‘45% Korean Snail Secretion Filtrate’, written on the box. This Korean bb cream will provide a lustrous texture to the skin by preventing skin damage, keep the skin moist, and form a moist protection layer.

First impressions: I opened the bottle and first noticed the smell. But it’s not what you think, it didn’t smell like the ocean or anything. Rather it smelled like the fragrance from perfume. Like women from some 1970s movie. My first try I felt it provided a light to medium coverage, and had a watery texture. It seems to be good for people with pale skin tones.  One of my Caucasian friends who has tried SKIN79 products before said that this one blended the best on her skin. When I pumped it out I was a little weary because it looked brownish. It has a dewy finish and pink undertone.

Over time, I did feel that this product made my skin very soft and moist. I’m not sure if it had anything to do with snails but at least we know this product is awesome. Though it has SPF 45 it didn’t make my skin feel very oily, and in the summer especially I have very oily skin.

But I would also mention that if the SKIN79 Gold collection or the Pink label works for you already, I don’t think this product would add anything much since both those products are very moisturizing already. Still, the shade between this product and the others is a bit different though, and as I said it seems to fit those with a lighter complexion, so it’s worth a try if the other labels aren’t quite right for you! Would I purchase it again? Yes, most definitely. I liked it because it was the best Korean bb cream for making my skin really smooth.
